Do Good Music was formed in 1996 to promote the music of a songwriting team, and though the size and the vision have grown, our mission remains the same:

Do Good Music exists to "do good" through words and music, to enable and encourage others to do the same, and to make good music available to the world.

------------

How do you do good music? How do you make music good in intent, content and quality? And even if your music is incredible, how do people find out you exist and how do they ever get to hear your work? Those are tough questions, but with a little guidance they can be answered. That's where we come in. We are mentors to independent artists, providing education, guidance, insight, ideas, encouragement and understanding in virtually every area of the music business.

Whether you want to know how to get started or how to build on what you already know, whether you want to produce your first custom CD or need to revise your promotional materials – or your songs – we can help.

We can help you because we've been there and done that. We've already made all the mistakes you could possibly make, and sometimes we've made them several times. And we've finally figured out the best ways to avoid most of those mistakes, the best ways to use limited resources, and even when to quit your day job.

Here are a few things you should know about us:

  • We love all indie artists, from those who might get a record deal to those who never will or don't want one. What impresses us is someone who wants to use the gifts God has given them to do good.

  • Thousands listen to and learn from our podcasts all at once, but one-on-one we take on a limited number of clients at a time. That way you can get the attention you deserve.

  • There are cheaper ways to learn stuff than by hiring us, including listening to our podcasts. You can read books, you can surf the web, you can develop a network of experts, and you can certainly learn through trial and error -- or even trial and success! What you can't find elsewhere is our particular perspective and our unique approach customized specifically for you. Are we worth it? Yes, but only if you really care about what you are doing.

  • Music as a hobby is fun, for sure. So is the music business, but when it is a business it is a business and you have to treat it that way. If you don't feel called to do music for a living, don't mess up your hobby. Even if you do get into the music business, you don't have to stay in it forever. But you have to be ready to stay because your public may demand it.

  • Making a living making music is like any other profession. If you invest your money wisely you can save even more money later on, and if you invest time and hard work, you are certainly going to gain increased skills and knowledge. Invest wisely and you'll get even smarter!

  • All of the Do Good Music professionals and Masters are Christians, and we are sincere about our faith. But we don't favor Christian artists over secular artists -- we want everyone to do good music. Our Christianity should not be a barrier to anyone but a blessing to everyone.

  • Words and music are powerful, marvelous gifts. Use your gifts. Do good music.
